Goodbyes

Felt sad today.

I just learned that one of my officemates is thinking of leaving SMC. I felt sad because he’s one really great guy, in terms of work competencies and building friendships. In a short time, I’ve come to appreciate the person that he is, the kind of father, husband and friend that he is. I also learned much from him, as he is always willing to share what he knows and finds joy and being able to teach.

But then again, his reasons for leaving are quite valid, and I’m sure that he will have better opportunities elsewhere. It’s just sad knowing that a person can truly be a victim of circumstances, of which he has no control. In the past, I always believed that you always have a hand on things that will happen to you, but with his sad story, I realized that sometimes that is not the case.

I just wish him well, since that is all I can do. And I just hope the friendship will remain.

Changes

Its been a while since I wrote here, and much, oh so much has happened since then.

For one, I let go of the studio type apartment I was renting with Nonoy and we now live with my big sister in Pasig.

So far it’s been good. It’s nearer my office so waking up is not a big hassle anymore. Another plus is that I get to see my nephew everyday. The only downside is that I don’t get to spend much time with my friends, being far away and all. I do miss my friends, it’s just that along with my move is a restructuring done in our office, which resulted in tons of responsibility for myself. I often get migraines because of stress.

Don’t get me wrong, I do love my job. In fact I welcome the challenge of team leading the training group. But sometimes I do feel worn out. It’s a good thing that I have coworkers who are more than willing to help me out when it’s tough.

My coworkers and I started a badminton date every Thursday. Its our way of relieving stress and enjoying something together at the same time. We had the most fun last week when we played for the first time. I hope we can do this regularly, it’s not only good exercise but a way to see each other in a different light. At least our interactions aren’t confined within the four wall of the office alone.

Abandoning the LoveNest

In a couple of weeks, I will be giving up my apartment and moving to my sister's home. Now that she's in Dubai, her partner asked me if I could move to their place and rent there instead. The idea caught my attention since I've been wanting to cut down on my expenses in order to start saving and eventually buying my own place. This of course cannot happen if I spend so much on house rent and electricity. At least now, my plan to get a rent-to-own condominium has a bigger chance of materializing.

I know there will be a number of changes, both positive and otherwise as a consequence of my move to Pasig. After all, the house won't be mine and Lyndon's alone, so therefore there is a need to adjust not only with each other but our other housemates. But we've lived there for sometime so I guess it won't be too much of a hassle.

One positive change of course is that my residence will be nearer the office, thus I won't be as tired from the viaje when I go home at night. Another plus factor is that Jeff will be nearer and this is my chance to fulfill my promise to my sister that I will look after him.

Just this morning on my way to work, I was already imagining what things will be like once we move. I hope to recreate the humble place we've started because that's one place I felt at home the most.
